The Mustangs and Las Colinas

Why are there mustangs galloping into our logo? And what is a "Las Colinas?"

Those galloping creatures represent the world's largest equestrian sculpture, the Mustangs of Las Colinas, captured in bronze as they move across a granite stream at Irving's Williams Square. African wildlife artist Robert Glen installed this spectacular piece in 1984, as a memorial to the heritage of Texas. The sculpture recognizes that "Texas is not only a geographical place on this continent, but that it represents a distinctive spirit and way of life of a people who are committed to the freedoms of action, initiative and expression for each individual man and woman as no other culture before has exhibited."

Visit this spectacular sculpture and take advantage of the FREE Mustang Museum Exhibit, open Wednesdays-Saturdays, from 11-5, in the West Tower of Williams Square, 972-869-9047.

And Las Colinas, Spanish for "the hills," is an Irving showcase, home to the corporate presence of more than 2,000 companies, including the global headquarters of four Fortune 500 companies. An Urban Land Institute Award for Excellence winner, Las Colinas is a superb example of a high quality, master-planned community of balanced commercial, residential and environmental land uses. In addition to the mustang sculpture, Las Colinas also counts the following among its most unique features: Las Colinas Flower Clock, Mandalay Canal, Las Colinas Equestrian Center, Harold Clayton's Marble Cows and the Byron Nelson Golf School.
