Dallas Museum of Natural History Exhibits of Texas plant and animal life in natural habitat settings of desert, seashore, swamp and prairie. Dallas Zoo | map
Open year-round, the Dallas Zoo houses more than 1,500 mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Internationally famous collection of rare African antelope, one of the largest groupings of American and Chilean flamingos in captivity, superb reptile collection. The "Wilds of Africa" exhibit is the first of its kind in the world to recreate each of the six major habitats of the entire African continent. A mile-long monorail and forest walking trail take you through the wilderness reserve.

Established in 1909, the Fort Worth Zoo is the oldest continuous zoo site in Texas and one of the finest in the entire Southwest. There are more than 4,000 exotic and native animals in beautifully landscaped natural habitats. Among the attractions is the Asian Falls, where you can walk along raised paths beside a 40-foot waterfall to view endangered Asian tigers, bears, cranes and a white tiger. The African savannah houses endangered black and white rhinos, giraffes and a variety of African birds across a winding river.
