The Heritage District in Irving was first designed by J.O. Schulze and Otis Brown in 1903 on 80 acres of land. The former railroad town has seen numerous changes since, but continues to preserve the city’s historic influences.

Heritage Park

Heritage Park is located in the heart of the Heritage District in Irving and contains the Caster Cabin built in 1887, a depot symbolizing the Rock Island Depot built in 1903, and Irving’s first water tower, windmill, and library.  

The Future of the Heritage District in Irving

The vision for the future of the Heritage District in Irving is to create a mixed-use community with retail and coffee shops along the sidewalk and business offices or apartments on the upper levels.

The redevelopment of the Heritage District in Irving will also include unique townhomes and single family residences. The McDougal Companies are assisting in this redevelopment with two $30 million projects beginning in 2009 and 2010.
