The King Lives, World Premier Salute to Elvis starring Kraig Parker

Happy Birthday, Elvis! With January 5 marking the birthday of Elvis Presley, Entertainment Series of Irving celebrates the King’s legacy with tribute artist, Kraig Parker. Parker's amazing likeness to Elvis in look, voice, moves and stage presence are sure to leave audiences “all shook up.” The ultimate image of this music icon, Parker has performed his act around the globe for the past 16 years.

Concert attendees are invited to come appropriately dressed in 50’s style. Hair styles, side burns, poodle skirts, "Elvis" glasses, "Fonzi" leather jackets are just some of the ways to join in the fun. Saturday School, Session Two: Faith Ringgold-Inspired Books

When: January 9 - February 13, 2-4 p.m.

Ages 6-10
Classes meet Saturdays in the Irving Arts Center’s ART LAB, 2 -4 p.m. Students will dive into a variety of topics built on a theme like a cultural movement, rich period of history, or a particular medium or art-making technique. They create art and memories guided by our professional teaching artists.

Faith Ringgold Inspired Books
The work of African-American artist Faith Ringgold is our inspiration for this unique storytelling class. Participants will explore creative writing, illustration and collage to create their books.

Instructor: Carleen Michener is an elementary art teacher in the Denton Independent School District. She holds an M.A. in Art Education from Texas Tech University and has been working with the Irving Arts Center since 2008. Learn More
