Founded in 1953 by Les Highet and Erma Hueneke, the Original Pancake House welcomed began in Portland, Oregon. Based on a tradition of great food with the highest quality ingredients, OPH has been serving made-from-scratch goodness for nearly 60 years.
Their recipes demand only the very finest of ingredients, such as 93 score butter, pure whipping cream, fresh Grade AA eggs, hard wheat unbleached flour, and our sourdough yeast. Old-fashioned sourdough yeast, just like your great grandmother used to use, is used in many of their batters. It is grown in our their kitchen from a culture of potatoes, flour, sugar, and activated by a “start of yeast.” This sourdough yeast produces light, airy, fine-textured pancakes.
Dallas opened its first Original Pancake House in 1987. More than 20 years later, it is still their constant objective to serve the finest breakfast available anywhere, together with pleasant, courteous, unobtrusive hospitality.
