FAST FACTS ABOUT IRVING, TEXAS

Irving was founded in 1903 by surveyors J.O. Schultz and Otis Brown as a rail link between Dallas and Fort Worth. The city of Irving was officially incorporated April 14, 1914, with Brown serving as Irving’s first mayor. Local historians believe that Irving co-founders decided to name the city after Mrs. Brown’s favorite author. Schulze, a member of the Washington Irving Literary Society, also was partial to the name Irving. more ›
