Irving's High Spirited Citizen program was initiated in 1988 by the Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau (ICVB). Its purpose is to recognize and encourage the spirit of volunteerism within the city of Irving. High Spirited Citizen award recipients are honored at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Irving City Council, and are further recognized by participation in Irving's annual holiday parade. More than 400 of Irving's "unsung" heroes have been named High Spirited Citizens.
Candidates must meet the criteria listed below for award consideration. All nominations for the High Spirited Citizen Award are considered and selected by the ICVB Board of Directors Community Engagement Committee. The committee is appointed by the ICVB Board Chairman annually. For more information, please contact Diana Pfaff at the Irving CVB at 972-252-7476.
To nominate an outstanding Irving resident for this award, please fill out and submit the Nomination Form. PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19, there is a current backlog in honoring High Spirited Citizen recipients. Current nominations – if selected – may not be recognized until the calendar year 2022. If there are extenuating circumstances where your nominee would need to be honored sooner if selected, please indicate so in the nomination form.
If you prefer to submit a hard copy of your nomination, download a PDF of the nomination form and mail it to:
