During the holidays, it seems like there's a song in my heart all the time.  Joy fills the air from shiny lamp post decorations to the brisk chilly weather to the songs of the season.  Around here, we don't have to go far to find a wide array of live music.  In fact, I've lined them up here for you.  And remember, you can always find more at www.irvingtexas.com

It's a Home Town Holiday Weekend

Thursday, November 30, 2017 1:00 PM by Carol Stoddard

It's that most wonderful time of the year. We've got chili pots cooking, and people parading, and lights on the tree.  Irving's the hap, happiest place to be.

I hope the season's festivities call to you like they do to me.  I want to drink cocoa, trim the tree, go shopping, and soak up this great weather.  Please join me and your neighbors this weekend at the Historic District of Irving where there's plenty of Christmas joy to go around. I hear the parade this year is about twice as long as before, and you know what that means . . . more candy!  And "You-Know-Who" might make an appearance too. Be sure to tag us on any photos you take. #VisitIrving

Irving in Autumn - Nov 17-19

Friday, November 17, 2017 11:00 AM

This is my favorite time of year - family coming to visit, the smell of a distant chimney, cheering for your favorite football team, and just getting outdoors. We have SO many reasons to be thankful. While you are rushing around preparing for Thanksgiving, why not check out these events? And be sure to visit our new website at www.IrvingTexas.com.

48 Hours in Irving

Monday, October 9, 2017 5:00 PM by Visit Irving

Found between Dallas and Fort Worth, Irving, TX delivers big-city fun with small-town charm. Have only 48 hours to explore? Here are our favorite highlights:

MUST SEES

Mandalay Canal

Lined with old-world architecture and Venice-inspired style, this charming enclave of restaurants and shops was designed to reflect Irving’s native setting of waterfalls and streams. The canal was created to connect to Lake Carolyn, where you can rent a paddleboard or join an intimate cruise. Stroll along cobblestone pathways and explore Irving’s little slice

By Any Other Name

LIZ ROSE

When: Saturday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Texas Musicians Museum, 222 E. Irving Blvd. 75060
Cost: VIP tickets $20.00; General admission $15.00

The name of Liz Rose may not be as well known as her music, but heard through many other names, her music is just as sweet! This Dallas-born, Irving-raised hitmaker has co-written some of the biggest country songs of the 21st century. Because of her Texas ties, she’s donating memorabilia and performing this weekend at one of Irving’s hidden gems, the Music Garden at the Texas Musicians

Skating With A Passion in Irving, TX

Friday, September 22, 2017 2:00 PM by Carol Stoddard

What do speed, strategy and raw female athleticism have in common? Women's Roller Derby of course! But the world of flat track derby is not like your mother's derby from years ago.  Oh yes, there's the fast-paced action, and some body checks, and some healthy competition, with yelling, cheering and penalty boxes, but the hits, spills and competition are 100% real. Scoring points involves a "Jammer" making it through a pack of "Blockers" from the opposing team. (Think football players on skates) Once that's done, she scores points every time she passes the opposing team's Blockers.  At the same time, her Blockers try to help their own Jammer get through. And I'll let you in on another secret, it's totally addicting to watch.  Ya just gotta see it!  And you can . . . this weekend . . . September 22 - 24.  Head on down to the Irving Convention Center and watch these ladies skate their way to the top bracket.

It's no secret, there are tons of things to do here in Irving, Texas this weekend. Below are some of our favorites. And for more area events, just hop on over to our website at www.irvingtexas.com.
