Your Mother's Day Weekend Guide in Irving

She packed your lunch, she drove you to practice, and her voice lulled you to sleep by reading a bedtime story. When you think about all the things your mom did while raising you, you realize that all those services are totally unaffordable now.  This is why Mother's Day was invented, to say thank you and help pay back a small portion of what she's done. Whether your mom loves great food, live music or just loves to hear you laugh, we have a list of events here in Irving that are sure to please her.

Cinco de Mayo is an American-Mexican celebration held on May 5th to commemorate Mexico’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla. Basically, they kicked Napoleon’s nephew and his army out of the country, thereby defeating a brief attempt at colonialism. And it's a perfect reason to celebrate! So whether Cinco de Mayo introduces your palate to that glorious cuisine from south of the border, or you’ve enjoyed Mexican food and TexMex all your life, celebrating this holiday has become a wonderful tradition for everyone here in Texas!

Lovely as a Tree

Thursday, April 25, 2019 4:00 PM by Carol Stoddard

Joyce Kilmer said it best, I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree. Since 1872, Americans have observed Arbor Day not only to celebrate our lovely trees but also to plant and nurture them.  This Saturday, everyone is invited to an Arbor Day celebration at Heritage Park downtown where there'll be live music, tons of children's activities, a snake humorist show and so much more. Of course this weekend also offers a wide variety of events for everyone, so branch out with the kiddos or bring your lovely date (person or tree) and experience all that Irving has to offer.

I thought to myself as I bit into a Biryani Kabab, followed by a dessert Empañada, how delightful it would be to gather a whole bunch of different restaurants together in one convenient place so visitors could get a 'taste' of what Irving is all about. That's when I ran into Taste of Irving who agreed to sit down with me for a brief interview on my idea of a gastronomic gathering. I pulled up a chair and began to ask
