Must-Try BBQ Dishes in Irving

It’s so Texas that Texas-born singers Willie Nelson, Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Robert Earl Keen have belted out a tune or two about it. Weekend after weekend, January through December, you’ll be hard pressed not to find a dozen or so festivals or cookoffs around the state in its honor. And today, not just Texas celebrates its greatness. So, on National BBQ Day, we’re sharing Irving’s tangiest, smokiest, sweetest, most finger-licking good BBQ in town.

I once read that “Motherhood is powered by love, fueled by coffee, and sustained by wine.” This quote got me to chuckling, but I don’t think it’s entirely true. We moms run on so many other awesome things that we might not always get, but we love so dearly like mani-pedis, chocolate, movies, and late-night Netflix binge when everyone else is asleep. So to celebrate Mother’s Day this year, we’ve put together a fun itinerary, featuring some of the things mentioned above, for moms to make the most of the holiday in Irving.

We don’t usually celebrate Valentine’s Day, because well…I’m just not into anything cheesy and lovey-dovey like that (ever since I was a teenager, true story!). So when I noticed that Valentine’s Day was like two weeks away from last weekend, I thought, hey, why not do a little staycation around my city of Las Colinas and have a little getaway with my little family. Any excuse to have a little getaway, right?

Happy National Glazed Donut Day! You know we love our foodie holidays here in Irving. Any reason to celebrate our favorite foods, right? Well today, we’re celebrating the country’s most beloved fried (or sometimes baked, ugh, okay we won’t judge) dough confection a.k.a donuts! Here are some of our favorite donut places in Irving. Take notes and get ready to stuff your face with these delicious concoctions of sugar, yeast, and magic!

The originator of the National Empanada Day might be unknown, but we’re glad it was invented because we’ll take any excuse to eat these folded pastries – baked or fried – any day! With its famously diverse food scene, the city of Irving prides itself as one of the best, if not THE ultimate destination for empanadas in DFW, with two empanaderias topping online charts and reviews for more than 5 years and counting! Without further ado, here they are!
