Thanksgiving is now behind us and many homes have already hoisted their trees and strung up their lights for the holidays. The same is true for Irving, and this weekend we'll have trees and lights popping up all over town. If you're looking to get into the festive mood yourself, here are some family-friendly holiday events to set the tone.

Holiday Extravaganza and Tree Lighting
Location: 825 W. Irving Blvd.
When: Saturday, Dec. 5, 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
The Holiday Extravaganza is a two-part event, featuring a community parade through the Heritage District followed by a tree lighting ceremony outside of Irving City Hall. This annual celebration is a tradition for many Irving families. The fun will begin at 4 p.m. when the parade winds through the streets of downtown Irving, featuring floats, bands, and community organizations. Immediately following the parade, head to Irving City Hall for the official lighting of the City of Irving's tree! The festivities include a holiday stage show with dance, music, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. Enjoy carols and complimentary hot chocolate as we count down to the lighting of the tree and a fireworks display.
Texas Musicians Museum Christmas Bazaar
Location: Texas Musicians Museum
When: Friday, Dec 4, 6-9 p.m. and Dec. 5, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Come out to do your Christmas shopping in a relaxing family environment, featuring vendors with all sorts of unique and custom specialty items, local food trucks and live Texas music. The TMM Christmas Bazaar will be located in the large parking lot directly across from the Texas Musicians Museum. The event culminates with the City of Irving's Christmas parade, which begins at 4 PM. The weatherman promises sunny skies and temps in the 60's, making for a great day of fun shopping. There's plenty of easy free parking in the lot behind the event area and admission is FREE.

Blue Christmas Chili Cook-Off

The Blue Christmas Chili Cook-Off returns as part of the city’s Holiday Extravaganza. In an effort to spread a little holiday cheer, toys will be collected and shared with local families. Attendees can sample chili flavors by purchasing a tasting cup at the event for $5.
