Whether you’re crazy about running or think it’s crazy to want to run 26 miles (at one time?!), you should consider the Irving Marathon. The first Irving Marathon was held in 2013, and since it has grown into a year-round race series with eight unique events that provide support to The Irving Schools Foundation and helps kids learn healthy lifestyle habits.

If you’re a newbie or an avid runner, you'll want to experience the Irving Marathon, one of the best marathon courses in the country with flat terrain and great local community support. And if you're a seriously fast runner, and the Boston marathon is on your bucket list, this annual spring marathon is a Boston qualifier.

Irving locals are the lucky ones for living nearby, but runners from all over the country will travel to Irving to line up with hundreds of others and race through picturesque Las Colinas on April 2, 2022. The course, which begins and ends at Toyota Music Factory, is just a few miles away from DFW airport - less than a 10-minute drive.

With a tagline “fast and flat,” this USATF-certified marathon course runs along the Las Colinas canals and Lake Carolyn, taking competitors past the iconic Mustangs of Las Colinas sculpture and several stunning water features. The beauty of the course, as well as cheers from spectators, will keep your motivation high as you make your way to the finish line.

On race day, runners can compete for awards in 14 age divisions with separate awards for male and female competitors. A corporate challenge rewards the fastest team, the team with the most participation and the best-dressed team. It’s not all about competition, though. It's a big accomplishment to run through the finish line at any pace, and every finisher receives a medal! There’s a half-marathon, a 10K, and a 5K as well as a fun run, for those who are just practicing or just having fun. Walkers are welcome to enter and there are spots for spectators too!

One of the best things about the Irving Marathon is its run series throughout the year. Sign up and get your heart racing on the way to the finish line where you'll be treated to post-race treats.

There's a full line up of events to follow with a St. Patrick’s 5K on March 12, a Fiesta de Mayo half marathon in May, Oktoberfest and Turkey Trot in the fall, and the Irving Frost half-marathon in December. Another signature event is the Paws Colinas 5-K-9 run/walk for those who love to run with their dogs. This run brings visitors to Paws Colinas, Irving’s seven-acre dog park which opened last summer.

All runs hosted by Irving Marathon benefit the Irving Schools Foundation. The foundation focuses on the “total student,” and Irving Marathon’s support of the organization is aimed at reducing childhood obesity by helping students to learn healthy exercise routines and habits. The iRun program encourages students to run the length of a marathon during their school year and rewards participants when they reach 5, 10, and 18-mile goals.
