Do you remember as a kid how excited you were on the last day of school? You could hardly concentrate as you said your goodbyes, talked about what you were doing that summer, or where you were going. You couldn’t wait for the bell to ring before you bolted out the door, ready to embrace summer like a long lost love.
That excitement can be recaptured right here in your home town of Irving. This weekend’s line up of events will bring back the sounds, smells and tastes of your childhood summers. Check out the fun below and be sure to tag us at #visitirving when you post your selfies.

Cole Porter’s Anything Goes – June 24-26 at 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday
This popular musical is a holdover from last week. The story involves a colorful assemblage of passengers from a popular nightclub singer, to a Wall Street broker, to a conman, who all try to help the main character win the love of his life. Does he get the girl? You’ll have to see it to find out. Nancy Churnin with The Dallas Morning News (21 June 2016) writes, “Experiencing Lyric Stage’s recreation of the original 1934 production of Anything Goes is, in a word, bliss. It’s like taking a step back in time in the best way possible, to a world of richly textured, heavenly harmonies exquisitely conducted by Jay Dias, with nary a synthesizer in sight.” This is the last weekend so don’t let this ship sale before you see it. Faron – June 23 & 25 at 8:00 p.m. | The Ranch
A frequent performer at The Ranch, Faron has been entertaining The Porch goers for a long time. While you’re there, take a look at their farm-to-fork menu. Basically that means they buy local meats and produce, and you can’t beat fresh. Do you know where Bandera, Texas is? Well they do because that’s where they get their quail. Local rocks!! Learn More
