August

Transatlantic Trade Expo

The Transatlantic Trade Expo at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas is considered to be the largest African diaspora event in the nation. Join the DFW community on August 3 to honor and recognize the global collection of communities descended from native Africans or Africa's peoples. The event schedule features a special launch of the proposed Hebrews Credit Union, a cultural segment, and a fashion show. The Transatlantic Trade Expo goes from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Let's Play Gaming Expo

From August 9 - 11, the third annual Let's Play Gaming Expo will take over the Irving Convention Center. This expo celebrates all gaming: board, card, and video. So, if you love gaming, you’ll want to explore nearly 100 gaming vendors, sit in on engaging panels, play more than 90 free arcade cabinets, and participate in gaming tournaments, like the national Smash Bros tournament, modern and retro gaming tournaments, and the Classic Tetris World Championship Southern Regional Qualifier. And what’s more, you can even say “hi” to some of your favorite video game personalities, from YouTubers like The 8-Bit Guy to Brian Colin, the creator of the classic arcade game Rampage. Children 7 and under get in free of charge!

Laughs by the Lake

August means it’s time again for Laughs by the Lake, Irving’s only outdoor comedy event and the largest outdoor comedy show in all of North Texas. This adult-friendly comedy show at Lake Carolyn features regional comedians doing their best to make you LOL at the end of the week. While you can’t bring adult beverages with you, you can bring food and non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy. Since there isn’t any formal seating available, make sure to bring a blanket or chair.

On Friday, August 23, the show begins at 7 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. And please note: while there will be no profanity or obscene language, all comedic content is designed and intended for an adult audience. All ages are welcome to attend, but parental caution is recommended for what is considered a PG-13 show.

September

Irving Main Street Event

In spite of our location in the very heart of the DFW Metroplex, Irving retains much of its small town charm. Nowhere is this spirit more on display than during the annual Irving Main Street Event. This two-day weekend festival takes place September 21 and 22 and features a wide range of music, a classic car show, free rides and activities for the kids, delicious food from vendors from all across DFW, and ample shopping. Things get started in the Irving Heritage District located at 217 S. Main Street. Don’t miss it!
