Whether you have a Valentine this year or not, one thing all us ladies can get behind is Galentine’s Day! The perfect excuse to celebrate the women in your life and enjoy some wine, dinner, brunch, or desserts at home with your favorite rom-com movie! This unofficial holiday (but totally should be official) is usually celebrated on Feb. 13, but I think the whole week before Valentine’s Day can be dedicated to the ladies. Irving has lots of great options to gather with your friends, family, and co-workers for a fabulous Galentine’s Day!

Mercy Bar & Lounge

316 West Las Colinas Boulevard

It is a “Rosé all day” kind of vibe when you visit Mercy Bar & Lounge for Galentine’s Day. An incredible wine selection and perfect food pairings make this chic spot at Toyota Music Factory the ideal place to show some love. Perfect for all types of wine lovers, you will find champagne, chardonnay, merlot, cabernet, and everything in between so everyone has their favorite glass to say “Cheers!” From the menu, some of my personal favorites are the White Truffle Parmesan Pommes Frites, Pear Salad, Blackened Salmon, and their amazing build-your-own cheese plates! Ask their helpful staff to pick the best wine pairing too. Then sit back, sip your glass, and enjoy the live music at Mercy!

Nosh & Bottle Market

370 West Las Colinas Boulevard Suite 100

If you have ever visited Nosh & Bottle for one of their karaoke nights, then you know this is the place to be with your girlfriends! The perfect spot for any time of day, coffee and mimosas in the AM and wine and charcuterie in the PM. A more laid back atmosphere, Nosh & Bottle is so fun to shop in their market aisles, then enjoy a glass with one of their amazing sandwiches, flatbreads, and cheese boards. They also have live music most nights so a good time is guaranteed!  My must orders are the Bacon and Brie Sandwich, Hill Country Flatbread, and the Artisan Cheese Board. All dishes pair perfectly with wine, so just ask your server for the best recommendation.

Hugo's Invitados

5240 N O'Connor Blvd #160

From the brightly colored decor, fresh cocktails, and revitalized Mexican cuisine, Hugo's Invitados is a great option to gather the girls and hit the scenic Water Street. Hugo’s gives us a new perspective on what Mexican food can be and only serves organic, never-fried, made-from-scratch meals that truly embrace the feeling of “mi casa es su casa.” Cocktails are divine at Hugo’s. My favorites are the Cucumber-Serrano Margarita, the Tropical, and a shot (or two) of Clase Azul Reposado. Perfect for brunch, lunch, or dinner; Hugo’s Invitados is always a good idea!

Mexican Sugar Las Colinas

3215 Regent Blvd

One of the newer restaurants to hit the Irving food scene, Mexican Sugar has quickly become a local favorite and worth the drive for visitors. One of the best patios around, you won’t even realize you are steps away from the busy highway. The decor inside and out transforms you into an authentic, fresh, and lively Mexican dining experience. Very Instagram-worthy! While margaritas are the first thing that comes to mind when looking at the drinks menu, Mexican Sugar offers some of the best cocktails that will have you trying something new and delicious each time you visit. While it is tempting to just order rounds of salsa, queso, and guacamole for the table to munch on with your cocktails, you will definitely regret it if you don’t indulge in their incredible entrees like the Lump Crab Enchiladas, Abodo Carne Asada Fajitas, or Pescado Tacos. Visit them for brunch for fresh Mexican twists on classic breakfast items. Really, there is no bad time to stop in at Mexican Sugar, especially when you have your girl gang with you!

Cavalli Pizza

3601 Regent Blvd

If you’re like me, then pizza is your love language and nothing says, “I love you, girls” like handmade, authentic Neapolitan pizza from Cavalli. Whether you are dining in or ordering to-go, Cavalli Pizza will be a hit with your whole group. From their large menu of specialty pizzas or build-your-own with fresh ingredients, you can taste the love that goes into each pie. Is it my girl group that is raising the heat in here or is it Cavalli’s 900-degree wood-fired oven? Personal favorites include the classic Margherita, Pesto Trio, and an order of fried zucchini. Oh, and if that all doesn’t sound good enough, Cavalli is BYOB. Grab a bottle of wine and your girlfriends and enjoy some of the best pizza and Italian dishes in Irving!

Sometimes the best way to celebrate Galentine’s Day is to simply load up on desserts and wine and share them all at home with movies, games, and some good old-fashion girl talk. All the Zoom happy hours from 2020 have been leading up to some much-needed quality time with your girlfriends. For the wine and cocktails, stop by Irving’s Total Wine location on North MacArthur Blvd. for the best selection and super helpful staff that will recommend the perfect bottle and pairings. For the desserts, there is no shortage of amazingly delicious spots to order from. Even with the cold front hitting, there is no bad time for ice cream, especially when it is from Creamistry. Buy pints to-go, ice cream sandwiches, or whole ice cream cakes! For bakery items, Argentina Bakery is a must. Alfajores, cupcakes, puff pastries, and delicious cakes will make you the favorite at the party. If you are looking to combine the spirits with your dessert, look no further than Pop Factory and their boozy popsicles! Baileys, Pina Colada, Sangria, Frosé, Margarita, and Rum Chata; I will have one of each, please!

No matter where you celebrate this year, we can all raise a glass to the strong, beautiful women in our lives. Wishing you a fun, festive, and safe Galentine’s day this year! Valentine’s Day, who?
