Today marks National Red Wine Day! A truly special day for all us wine lovers, you’re sure to see me with a glass in one hand and a bottle in the other today. Red wine can elevate any dinner, happy hour, or movie night at home. With so many red grape varietals, you can find the perfect bottle to match your taste preferences. Some of the big names we all know and love, such as cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, merlot, and zinfandel can be found on most all wine lists and wine aisles. While those are tried and trued choices, maybe this National Red Wine Day, step out of your comfort zone and try a new varietal or blend to say “Cheers!” Syrah, Sangiovese, Malbec, Grenache, and Tempranillo are some great options to help open up your palate to new vineyards or regions. No matter the grape, red wine will always be the perfect complement to steaks, pizzas, cheese plates, and all things chocolate. Try these incredible spots in Irving this National Red Wine Day for amazing wines and food!

You can never go wrong with Italian food and red wine, especially when the food is as delicious at Lamberti Ristorante and Wine Bar. From house-made fresh pizzas to pasta dishes, you are sure to feel transported to Italy when eating at Lamberti. Their wine list features a map of Italian grape regions so you can sip your way through Italy and try some wines that may be new to you. I recommend a Chianti or Super Tuscan blend! These wines will pair beautifully with their Braised Beef Ravioli or Eggplant Parmesan. Lamberti is currently offering dine-in, take out, and delivery!

The Keg Steakhouse & Bar

859 W John Carpenter Fwy, Irving, TX 75039

The Keg in Las Colinas is a great place for date night, happy hour, or simply an amazing dinner out. A beautiful steak and a bold glass of red wine come together for a perfect compliment. Here are my recommendations for steak and wine pairing; Syrah with ribeye, Malbec with filet mignon, Cabernet Sauvignon with NY strip steak, and Bordeaux with prime rib. Of course,  these are just recommendations because the best part about wine is finding what you personally like and enjoying your glass.

Some other incredible steak restaurants in Irving to check out are The Ranch, Blaze Brazilian Steakhouse, and LAW located at the Four Seasons Resort.

Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill

350 West Las Colinas Boulevard, Irving, TX 75039

One of my favorite desserts in Irving is from Thirsty Lion Gastropub. The Deep Dish Chocolate Porter Brownie comes with pecans, caramel, and chocolate fudge sauces, baked in a cast-iron skillet and served with premium vanilla ice cream. After a great meal of burgers and amazing appetizers, this dessert with a glass of cabernet is the perfect finish to any night. Also on the menu are a hot fudge sundae and crème brûlée, which pair great with a lighter red wine. Thirsty Lion has a great wine list to help find excellent compliments to all their dishes.

Let’s all raise our glasses for National Red Wine Day! As always, stay safe and have fun exploring new wines and all the incredible restaurants in Irving. Cheers!
