Summertime and rosé are the perfect match. Grab a chilled glass of your favorite pink drink and head to the pool, backyard grill, or patio for a sunset dinner!

For those who are unsure how they feel about rosé, lets dive in to this wine that is sure to please white and red wine drinkers alike. Rosé can be dry or fruity, dark or light, and can be made with grapes from grenache, sangiovese, syrah, mourvedre, pinot noir, and as well as a few other varietals. Pink does not always mean sweet. In fact, many rosé wines will have tasting notes of lemon, cucumber, lime, allspice, clove, and even pepper cured meats in addition to the classic berry notes like strawberry and raspberry. Rosé is not limited to the feminine and should be enjoyed by all, especially during these warm summer months in Texas!

Here are some great spots in Irving to get your rosé fix and enjoy it with some amazing dishes.

One of my favorite patio spots is Cork & Pig Tavern located at Water Street on Lake Carolyn. While it may be a scorcher during these summer months, I recommend visiting Cork & Pig for an evening on their patio or weekend brunch before the daily temperatures rise. The perfect compliment to the shady patio and great views is Cork & Pig’s fun twist on rosé, FROSE! Rosé wine ice blended with a twist of lime, the ultimate summertime drink! They also feature the “Piglet” which is half mimosa and half frosé. If you want to keep it traditional with a simple glass of wine, Cork & Pig offers a great local Texas rosé on their wine list. All forms of rosé served here will pair great with their crab cake salad, fish and chips, or fish sandwich.

Known for their incredible wine list and seafood, Pacific Table in Las Colinas offers French and Californian rosés that are perfect for their expansive lakeside patio and welcoming dining room. For a starter, order one of the brut rosé champagnes that will pair perfectly with their Mediterian calamari or fresh oysters on the shell. Sushi lovers will rejoice at how their rosé pairs with the shrimp tempura roll and shrimp mango roll. For the main course, I recommend the San Francisco cioppino or miso salmon with your glass of rosé.

A surprisingly great compliment to rosé wine is Thai food! With fresh spices and a little heat, rosé will be extremely satisfying with all your Thai favorites. From Chili Thai, I recommend ordering to-go or delivery and grabbing a bottle from the nearby Total Wine on North MacArthur Blvd for the ultimate take out night at home. Try the Tom Kha soup and Pad Thai noodles with the heat level medium to high, depending on your tolerance. These spicy dishes will pair perfectly with a fruit-forward rosé. From Yummy Thai, try the papaya salad with a spicy yellow or red curry and head over to Nosh and Bottle for a great rosé selection and perfect dinner at home. Other great Thai spots in Irving include Bangkok Orchid and Sapp Sapp.

A personal favorite is a good burger with a glass of rosé! Nothing says summer more than grilling in the backyard and sipping on a nice chilled rosé wine. If you're looking to have someone else do the grilling for you, head to Bar Louie for an awesome selection of burgers and sliders! For an appetizer or as your meal, try the sliders which can come with beef or salmon patties. Both slider options will pair great with the Washington state rosé featured on the wine list. For the more hearty burgers on the menu, the California rosé on their wine list pairs best with the Bourbon BBQ or Louie’s Choice Cheeseburger.

This wine Wednesday, don’t be afraid to try the unofficial drink of the summer, rosé. Take it to the water or your patio, you’re sure to feel summertime in every sip. Cheers!
