When: Thursday, March 1st, anytime between 4pm and 7pm (wine tastings occur every Thursday at the same time)
What: This month’s focus is on the most famed of all the winemaking regions of the world. Bordeaux is a group of smaller subregions (appellations) situated along the Gironde river. Each region, each hilltop, each valley has its own style and tradition. 5 varietals are grown in the region, and each little tiny appellation uses them in varying quantities to produce their unique product. The five are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. We will explore the various styles of Bordeaux throughout the month. We will focus each week on one unique varietal of the great Bordeaux blends. Great wine has been grown and produced in Bordeaux for millenia, and the great tradition still continues in every bottle made to this day.
March 1, 2018 – Thursday Wine Tasting: Cabernet Franc Cab Franc can stand very well on its own, and has striking appeal as a perfumy, velvety, elegant red. This wine adds aroma, soft fruit, and complexity to a Bordeaux blend. Expect us to serve Chateau Bonnet white Bordeaux. Next, an Italian Cabernet Franc from house Gradis’Ciutta. Finally, Chateau du Raux Red Bordeaux.
