The University of North Texas offers two options for learning about the solar system and exploring space. The Sky Theater is located on the campus of North Texas and has regularly scheduled shows that offer learning opportunities for all ages. The shows are in a 100 seat, 40-foot domed theater which features the Digistar V projection system that can reproduce the night sky with digital precision.
The second option is the Rabe Urban Astronomy Center (RUAC) which is located west of Denton near the Denton Municipal Airport. The RUAC Center has four telescope huts, each housing four Celestron C8 telescopes and two classrooms for UNT astronomy student laboratories. There are also two large domes for community outreach programs that house Celestron C14's. Between the domes is an amphitheater with movable benches. The first Saturday of each month there is a Star Party at the RUAC with knowledgeable staff and students assisting as visitors have an opportunity to see objects in space through the telescopes.
