DFW Fiber Fest

The 2021 DFW Fiber Fest event has canceled with a projected return in 2022. Please visit our events calendar for upcoming events at the Irving Convention Center.

Event Details: If you love knitting, crocheting, or spinning yarn, you will love DFW Fiber Fest, the premier fiber festival in North Texas. The event is typically held over four days in April at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas and features educational classes for fiber fans of all skill levels along with a carefully curated vendor hall. Special events, fun competitions, and yarn and equipment samplings round out a delightful, fiber-filled weekend.

Learn and Create

DFW Fiber Fest encompasses many areas of fiber craft—knitting, crochet, and spinning, along with related crafts such as weaving and dyeing. No matter where your fiber interests lie, DFW Fiber Fest has something for every type of fiber enthusiast.

Each year, the volunteer crew behind this massive event work to bring a slate of nationally and internationally known fiber instructors and speakers to lead a wide range of classes. For a fee, you can choose from among morning and afternoon sessions where you will learn a new skill or improve an existing one.

Don't know how to crochet or knit, but want to learn? Take advantage of Fiber Fest’s free “Learn-To” classes. Designed for beginner knitters and crocheters, these 75-minute sessions cover all the basics.

DFW Fiber Fest is also home to fiber demonstrations where you can learn a new trick or watch somebody work on something you've always been curious about.

Find New Products

The vendor hall of DFW Fiber Fest is a juried show where you can peruse fiber vendors of all sorts. Open to the public, the vendor hall features suppliers that offer raw and processed fibers, beautiful yarns, and all kinds of tools and supplies, making for a single location where you can touch, sample, and purchase excellent products. The sellers are a mix of local and regional vendors—from local yarn shops, farm-based shops, and locally based independent fiber artists—along with nationally known vendors, all eager to share and explain their products.

If you want to work with some fresh new yarns, follow the thread to the festival’s Fiberatory area where yarn “tasting stations” are set up for you to take a stitch or two. Here you can sample yarn from different vendors, stitch, handle a swatch, and see what you think. The sampling includes both knitting needles and crochet hooks to give you a true sense of what to expect.

If you’d love the chance to get your hands on some high-grade equipment, like spinning wheels, yarn winders, or drum carders, visit the Equipment Test Drive stations where you’ll be able to give these pieces a test spin.
