IRVING, TX (March 25, 2024) – All hands are on deck for the charitable bass fishing contest that is hook, line and sinker the most fun in North Texas – the 2024 AMBUCS Bass Tournament. The 5th annual family-friendly event is on Lake Carolyn on Saturday, April 27, from 7 a.m., until 3 p.m., with a free BBQ dinner at Levy Plaza for all participants and the public alike following the final weigh in.
Not only is the tournament a favorite of fishermen, it supports a very worthy cause. The
event’s host - American Business Clubs (AMBUCS) - is a non-profit organization that for
more than a century has been dedicated to creating independence for children with disabilities.
Proceeds from the tournament will go towards supporting their programs, initiatives and provide
amtrykes to the disabled.
“Most people don’t know that Lake Carolyn is one of the best bass lakes in Texas,” said Dennis Webb, volunteer tournament organizer and Irving City Council member. “We get a tremendous response to the tournament every year, and are thrilled we can raise funds and deliver amtrykes to more than 20 kids and veterans each year. Last year, all the prize winners even donated back their prize winnings!”
This year’s contest offers alluring prizes of $250 for first place, $200 for second place
and $150 for third place. A youth prizes of $100, $50 and $25 are also awarded to the kiddos
with the three biggest catches.
Registration is $250 per team and is limited to 20, two-person teams. Kids up to
age 18 can enter for free or fish off the shores of the lake. There is a five fish limit per boat for
prize eligibility – the biggest bass wins!
