Convention headquarter hotel, Irving Convention Center, and Toyota Music Factory converge to offer attractive, walkable visitors’ district and meetings destination

IRVING, TX (June 26, 2019) — The Westin Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas has opened, bringing to fruition the City of Irving’s vision for a walkable, mixed-use visitors’ district serving both the meetings and leisure travel markets.  The hotel completes a trifecta that also includes the striking copper-clad 150,000 square-foot Irving Convention Center and the Toyota Music Factory, an all-in-one dining and entertainment destination with an 8,000-seat Live Nation indoor/outdoor amphitheater, movie theaters, and 20-plus restaurants and bars.

Nestled conveniently between the Convention Center and The Music Factory, the new hotel boasts 13 stories, 350 guest rooms and 32,369 square feet of flexible indoor/outdoor meeting space, accommodating up to 4,860 attendees.  The adjacent Convention Center extends that capacity to 132, 369.

The Westin serves a much-needed purpose for the Irving Convention Center, which opened in 2011 and averages 305 events per year. It was designed to complement the Center’s award-winning architecture.

“We know the group market’s preference – and, often times, its requirement – for an adjacent headquarter hotel and we are thrilled to deliver on what has long been a priority for us,” said Maura Allen Gast, executive director of the Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“The hotel represents the crowning piece in Irving’s vision for a distinctive visitor district,” she continued. “The Irving Convention Center was the initial anchor; the Toyota Music Factory with its concert pavilion and collection of restaurants is the second piece; and the Westin is the third.  This easily accessed, pedestrian-friendly 40-acre district provides a wide range of entertainment and dining options to fill free nights on the convention schedule, as well as an excellent venue for opening or closing night events. And, of course, any of the city’s individual travelers will enjoy all the district’s offerings as well.” Gast notes that the area also recently welcomed the Texican Court, a boutique hotel property with a retro motor court vibe, adding another 152 guest rooms and 35,000 square feet of meetings and event space to the area.

With the completion of Irving’s dynamic visitors district, convention attendees can now start their day with room service, walk to their meetings, go for a swim or workout, enjoy cuisine of their choice for dinner, catch a performance by such artists as Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, or Tom Jones and have a nightcap, all without wheels.
