At Animal Experience at Fritz Park
Looking for those perfect fall vibes? Head to the Fritz Park Pumpkin Patch! This event is a must for your autumn bucket list, especially for families with little ones. The Animal Experience at Fritz Park is hosting its fourth annual Pumpkin Patch event every weekend from Oct. 5 to Nov. 2.
Pick the perfect locally grown pumpkin for carving, decorating, or baking—all just $10, with a portion supporting Irving Animal Services. Capture adorable moments with the kids in the patch, and don’t miss the chance to have family pictures taken by the professional photographer on-site.
The fully interactive petting zoo lets kids pet, brush, and feed animals like goats, sheep, alpacas, and miniature cows. Feed cups are just $1, and kids under 70 pounds can take a pony ride for $3.
Kids will also love the Magic Pumpkin Garden, where they can plant a Magic Pumpkin Seed for $3 and explore the Straw Maze. After their adventure, they’ll return to see what their seed has grown into and paint their very own Magic Pumpkin!
There are also plenty of free activities, including Halloween-themed games, a spooky barn, pig races, Lemur Land, and chicken pumpkin carving.
We love how affordable this event is with admission priced at $4 for Irving residents and $5 for non-residents (children under 2 are free). And for $10, the child's combo package includes admission, a feed cup, a pony ride, and a Magic Pumpkin Seed.
Don’t forget to visit the Boo Bakery for seasonal treats and drinks like Witches Brew and apple cider tea, and check out the Ghoulish Gift Shop before you head home!

Day of The Dead Canalside Celebration
November 2, 2024
2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
At the Mandalay Canal Walk at Las Colinas
The Las Colinas Day of the Dead Canalside Celebration beautifully intertwines the brilliant hues of autumn with the vibrant customs of Día de los Muertos, one of Mexico’s most cherished holidays. Presented by the U.S.-Mexico Cultural Educational Foundation in partnership with the Las Colinas Association, this event promises to be a vibrant, cultural experience that honors one of Mexico’s most cherished traditions.
As you arrive, expect to be surrounded by colorful décor and the lively sounds of mariachi music, complemented by mouthwatering Mexican cuisine, sweets, and desserts from local restaurants throughout the day. For a unique perspective of the festivities, Gondola Adventures will offer enchanting rides along the Mandalay Canal, providing an unmatched view of the celebration.
Immerse yourself in the festive spirit by getting your face painted with traditional sugar skull makeup, also known as calavera makeup. This unique style, inspired by La Calavera Catrina, is a visual symbol of the holiday.
As you stroll through a vibrant market filled with handmade goods, artwork, and authentic crafts from local Mexican artisans, you’ll find the perfect opportunity to pick up unique souvenirs while supporting the community.
Keep an eye out for the towering 14-foot mojigangas, giant puppets that are a staple of Mexican festivities. These larger-than-life figures will parade along the canal, offering a fantastic photo op!
As the sun sets, get ready for a spectacular show featuring the Mandalay Canal's lights and sound system. Keeping with tradition, the event will also feature an ofrenda, a beautiful altar where they’ll be honoring loved ones in the community who have passed.
This free event is open to all, but RSVPs are encouraged! Last year, over 2,000 people filled the canals to celebrate and learn about Día de los Muertos, and this year is expected to be even bigger and better. Don’t miss your chance to experience this incredible day of art, culture, and community in the heart of Las Colinas.
