Twelve years since one of our neighborhoods was named the most diverse in America, our city has grown richer in traditions and food culture. The latest addition to our beautiful tapestry of global cuisine is Kafi BBQ.
With a strong background in engineering, Kafi BBQ pitmaster and owner Salahodeen has always loved tinkering in the kitchen to figure out ways of achieving the best flavors. Methodical with his approach, Salahodeen began making barbecue about six years ago for his family and friends. With each get-together and party he cooked for, his fan base grew. And so did his confidence to finally open his own restaurant in late 2024.
With a mission to make barbecue accessible to all, including those who adhere to halal dietary laws like himself, Salahodeen always knew that he wanted to not cut corners and stay true to the traditional Texas BBQ style.
With smoked brisket as the star, halal sausage with lamb casing from New Zealand, and classic sides like cornbread, beans, and coleslaw – Kafi BBQ has proven that Texas BBQ can be made available and delicious to everyone, no matter their background and beliefs. Y’all is all.
To top it all off, Kafi BBQ also serves Chai-spiced drinks every Friday and the perfect marriage of traditional Middle Eastern dessert, Mahalabia, and French custard, resulting in their divine Cardamom Banana Pudding. Trust us, it is beyond.
Kafi BBQ has amassed a huge following in just three months, attracting foodies and content creators from around the country to make viral videos of everything from their dino ribs, melt-in-your-mouth brisket, and mac n cheese. Experience where Texas meets Wagyu in Irving every Friday to Sunday! Pro-tip: Come right at 11 a.m. when they open because they do tend to sell out!
