Bridges of Mandalay Canal
Judging by the number of happy couples that have sealed the deal amidst the old-world architecture, tree-lined cobblestone walkways, romantic bridges and Canal Clock Tower along the Mandalay Canal, it’s safe to say that the canals are definitely worthy of a spot on the list of best places to propose.
The locale is picturesque, tranquil and right in the heart of the city! Yet, the water and nearby waterfalls drown out the noise of the city and create serene atmosphere.

Lock in Your Love
Repost from @wanderwithwonder
Nothing says I want to lock in my future with you more than a love-locked Parisian-style proposal. The “Love Lock Ritual” has become a popular expression of devotion and a romantic way to ask the one who holds the key to your heart to be your happily-ever-after. So, when you’re ready to ask for their hand in marriage, buy a pretty padlock, engrave it, and affix it to the love-lock bridge right here in Irving on Lake Carolyn Promenade. Then, take a knee, pop the question and throw away the key.
Unbridled Love
Mustangs of Las Colinas (renovation opening February 2022) 5221 N. O'Conner Blvd. | : 972.869.9047
When wild horses can’t drag you away from the one you love, bring the one you love to the horses for an unforgettable marriage proposal. The Mustangs of Las Colinas, the largest equestrian sculpture in the world, depicts nine larger-than-life bronze mustangs galloping across a river, appearing to splash water in the middle of Williams Square Plaza. This breathtaking illusion is created by small fountains strategically placed beneath the horses’ hooves. These beauties have captured many hearts. And the plaza and sculpture have often been the location choice for celebrations and photographs and are best experienced at night, when the horses are magnificently lit up.
Although it’s forbidden to climb on the horses, plenty of romantic proposals have happened along the edge of the stream. One such romantic question-of-a-lifetime came in the form of a poem by Pat Curtis who repeated his proposal to Helen while reminiscing at the Mustangs 30+1 Year Anniversary Celebration. So stinkin' sweet!
For years, the mustangs have been the iconic Texas backdrop for engagements, as well as bridal party photos and weddings. The Mustangs of Las Colinas Museum’s Director Mary Higbie recounted to me “the timber topper of all stories” about how one lucky couple even got married in the Mustangs Museum when rain dampened their wedding day. Mary anticipates that many more love stories will begin in the plaza among her beloved mustangs.
