Neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail, however you enjoy your whiskey, you are sure to warm up this winter season with a smooth glass from any of Irving’s whiskey watering holes. While whiskey and bourbon did not originate in Texas, there is definitely something so cowboy about an Old Fashioned next to the fireplace with delicious food on your plate. This is something that can be found in Irving at these spots to wet your whistle with the best whiskey and bourbon!

The Ranch at Las Colinas

857 W John Carpenter Fwy | (972) 506-7262

One of my favorite spots to enjoy a drink is at The Ranch at Las Colinas. Between their lively bar, spacious patio and western-luxe dining room, there is no wrong place to enjoy one of their signature cocktails, the Judd. This drink is definitely for those who love whiskey with Haywire (sister restaurant) hand-selected Barrel Balcones single malt whiskey, simple syrup,  peach bitters and spiced pecans. The best part of this cocktail is it comes with a show; a table-side smoking gun transforms the flavors and creates a smoky smooth concoction. For those looking to keep their whiskey and bourbons simple, The Ranch offers an incredible selection from around the world that will satisfy all.

LAW Restaurant + OUTLAW Taproom

4150 N MacArthur Blvd | (972) 717-2420

Whether looking for a classy after work drink or relaxing weekend fun, both LAW Restaurant and their bar OUTLAW Taproom are pouring up hand-crafted cocktails by some seriously talented bartenders. For a flavorful twist on an Old Fashioned, try their Little Piggy. This drink features a bacon-washed Redemption bourbon, angostura, turbinado sugar nest and Luxardo cherries. With temperatures dropping for winter, I recommend making your drink a double and heading out to the patio to enjoy their fire pits as you sip. LAW and OUTLAW are always coming up with creative concoctions, so this is definitely a place to visit often and see what’s new.

Pacific Table

5238 N O'Connor Blvd #136 | (972) 957-7620

As someone who doesn't drink whiskey all that often, I have to say that Pacific Table knows how to make a whiskey cocktail for all to enjoy. A must-order is from their signature cocktail list, the Japanese Highball. This drink features Toki whisky, spiced orange ginger ale and orange. Or try the light and refreshing Yellowtail Jalapeno Roll with Yellowtail, asparagus, serrano and sriracha. It's the perfect complement to their sushi roll. While this cocktail can always be found on the menu, definitely keep your eye on their social media as the bartenders are constantly coming up with new and exciting drinks to share, like this Boulevardier made with WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye, Campari and Vermouth Rogue.

Whether in cocktails or as tasting flights, if you don't find a whiskey you like here, then you simply do not like whiskey. From America coast to coast, to Europe and Japan, Whiskey Cake definitely carries the best selection of whiskeys and bourbon in Irving. If you are feeling adventurous or want to try some new brands, opt for one of Whiskey Cake's flights that will showcase four unique and delicious whiskeys and bourbons. If you are heading straight to the cocktails, Whiskey Cake offers a whole section on the menu dedicated to their creative whiskey drinks, like the Winchester 85 made with Old Forester bourbon, local honey, lemon and sparkling rosé.

Thirsty Lion Gastropub

350 Las Colinas Blvd W | (214) 496-0400

With so many savory and indulgent foods on the menu at Thirsty Lion Gastropub, a smooth whiskey drink is the perfect balance to complement your meal. You will find several “modern classics,” like a Bourbon Old Fashioned, Maker’s Mark Manhattan, or The Sazerac, a New Orleans favorite made with Bulleit Rye, sweet vermouth, absinthe, Fee Brother’s orange bitters, Angostura and Peychaud’s bitters. All of these drinks will pair perfectly with menu items such as their Fried Chicken Mac 'n Cheese, Scotch Eggs or the BBQ White Cheddar Burger. Gather your friends or plan a date night to enjoy one of the best gastropubs around!

Peak Restaurant and Sports Bar

3401 W Airport Fwy #110 | (469) 647-5500

When hanging out in south Irving, visiting Peak Restaurant is a must! Asian fusion with a sports bar feel, this place is the ultimate local's hangout that welcomes all. A delicious blend of Nepalese, Tibetan, and Indian dishes with a full bar, their friendly bartenders will whip up a delicious cocktail of your choice or choose from some of their seasonal creations like this Vanilla Old Fashioned. Fill up your table with some seriously delicious foods that you may have tried before, like Butter Chicken and garlic Naan or go bold and try new dishes from the Himalayan Tiffin section of the menu. It features Fried Pangra made with fried gizzard, onion, tomato, and other Himalayan spices served with chiura/Bhuja. This dish is traditionally served with alcoholic drinks, so choose from one of many whiskeys and bourbons offered at Peak and enjoy an unforgettable night with friends or family in south Irving!
