There’s a new hangout in town for the very good boys and girls of Irving. If your best friend is of the four-legged kind, you owe it to them to check it out. Dogs need exercise and socialization, and let's face it, we do too. A second dog park in Irving is giving all of us a fun place to meet those needs.
Paws Colinas Dog Park opened this summer as a partnership between the Las Colinas Association (LCA) and the City of Irving. You’ll find it along the Campion Trail at 1300 California Crossing Road, making it easy to access whether you walk or drive. With seven acres of space designed with dogs in mind, this park is full of amenities that dog-lovers are looking for. You’ll find separate off-leash play areas for small or large dogs, and benches with shaded areas for resting. Water fountains and clean-up-after-your-pet stations are scattered throughout the park.
Of course, no social scene is complete without Instagrammable spots, and you’ll find plenty of these in the tree-shaded park, starting with giant dog-bone placards on the entry gate. There are boulders for doggies to sniff or climb on and wi-fi hot spots to keep you connected while your best friend runs and plays. The park was designed with four off-leash areas, two each for large and small dogs. That means there’s a spot for your dog to roam just about any time, even while other sections undergo maintenance. Dogs must be at least six months old, licensed and vaccinated to play in the park. Check out these and other guidelines on the City of Irving Parks and Recreation page.
In October, Irving Marathon hosted a 5K and 1-mile fun run for pups and their humans, with the starting gate at the park. If that sounds like something you'd want to join, keep an eye on our blog, or sign up for our newsletter so you’ll be in-the-know when Paws Colinas 5K-9 is announced for 2022. Of course, you don’t have to enter a race to enjoy running or walking with your dog. Campion Trail is perfect for that any time, and now you can reward yourself with a rest stop afterwards in a dog park built for comfort.
It might be the case that your dog enjoys running more than you do. If that's true, the free-play areas at Paws Colinas are perfect places to let your pup burn off all that energy. Residents of apartment communities nearby can take advantage of this city amenity and make new friends at the same time. Doggie play dates can’t be far behind. With onsite parking spaces, a visit to Paws Colinas is just a short drive away no matter where you live in Irving.
Paws Colinas is open from sunrise to sunset, year round, with closures kept to a minimum. With as many as 233 sunny days a year, our weather in Irving is perfect for making doggies happy. Fun days in the dog park with your best friend are sure to make you smile too.
