ATTRACTIONS

Heritage Park

Located in the heart of the Heritage District, Heritage Park puts Irving’s history on display. Home to Irving’s first water tower, windmill, and library, visitors love to explore the park and take a step back in time. The park also contains one of Irving’s oldest structures, the Caster Cabin built in 1887, as well as a replica of the Rock Island Depot built in 1903. After spending some time at the park, stroll down the Heritage District’s Main Street.

Heritage House

Discover the dwelling of some of the city’s first citizens at the Heritage House, one of Irving’s oldest residences. The Heritage House was built in 1912 by C.P. Shulze, who operated the Irving Lumber Company from 1905 to 1957 and was the brother of Irving’s co-founder, J. O. Schulze. Located on O’Connor Road in Irving, the house is furnished with all original family items, period antiques, and more. Guests can tour the house for free on the first Sunday of each month, March through December.

Centennial Park

For more history, head to Centennial Park where you can admire a space dedicated to Irving's first 100 years of existence. Stroll the beautiful, tree-lined walking trail that takes you around Delaware Creek, admire statues of Irving’s founders J.O. Schulze and Otis Brown, stop into the history pavilion, check out the history wall in Founder’s Plaza, or bring a lunch to eat at one of the picnic areas in this space created to commemorate the city’s history and celebrate its future.
