Women-Owned Businesses in Irving to Support

Tuesday, November 23, 2021 2:00 PM by Kristina Rowe

When you support local women-owned businesses, you’re supporting economic justice and empowerment for women, and that feels good. You’re also supporting the local economy, the surrounding community and most of all, local families, both the owners' and their employees'. That feels good too, but truth be told, these businesses are worthy of your support, even without all of that.

It’s fall in Texas y’all and winter is slowly making its way south, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy outdoor food, drink and fun. First, well, it’s Texas, but when we do finally feel a chill in the air, Irving is home to lots of hot spots (pun intended) featuring outdoor spaces outfitted to keep us toasty.

Is there anything more romantic than falling in love against a firelight glow? Whether it's a crackling fireplace or an outdoor fire pit, there's just something about those flickering flames that gets you in the mood for romance, and you may find yourself temporarily forgetting about those chilly temps, should they arrive. Here’s where to get cozy.

Americans love, respect, and honor our troops all year round. However, each November, we set aside a special time to honor the sacrifices our brave military veterans have made.  Originally called Armistice Day, Veterans Day falls on the anniversary of World War I. The holiday was renamed in 1954 to honor the service of all military members.

Visit Irving salutes our past and present men and women in uniform today. Below is a list of Veterans Day celebrations throughout the city.

Uniquely Irving: Edoko Omakase

Friday, October 22, 2021 7:00 AM by Chelsea Bilbia

When searching for the outstanding sushi in Irving, look no further than Edoko Omakase. This locally owned restaurant serves up only fresh ingredients and always sources from local farmers markets when possible, while the kitchen features a sushi chef expert with over 20 years of experience. All seafood served here is extremely high quality and you will feel as if you are dining along the shores of Japan with every bite. While sushi is king, there is an array of flavorful Japanese dishes for all to enjoy. Some of my favorites include the teriyaki chicken and shrimp tempura. Those looking to keep a vegetarian diet will enjoy the rich umami flavors through the vegetable tempura and the vege don with a mixed variety of pickled veggies served on top of sushi rice.
